How To Read A Book
I do not know of a more important skill to develop than arcing...for the preacher.
Dr.Dan Fuller's system of arcing was his way to put into practice what Adler teaches in "How To Read a Book." This is why I always assigned the first eleven chapters of How To Read A Book to my students in Bible College. In everyday life, we should seek to treat writers and speakers (even in informal conversations) with the respect that we ourselves would like to be treated. We hate it when others attribute meanings to the words we write or speak that we did not intend. How much more should we seek to not do this with Paul or Luke. Much is at stake...especially if we are charged to regularly preach/teach the inerrant words of the living God which were given through men in particular contexts and life situations.
